Firefighters helped save the life of dog caught in a fire in Port Erin last night.

They were called to a blaze, which had started in the living room, at a property in Grammah Avenue just after 9pm.

The occupier of the property had been rescued by a neighbour who’d been alerted by a smoke alarm – they were treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics.

The dog was missing – thankfully four firefighters who entered were able to locate it and revived it using oxygen therapy masks supplied by Paws for Therapy (Isle of Man).

The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
